Almost 2 million people are online and surfing at a given moment of time these days. This is why internet marketing is becoming bigger and bigger with each passing day. One can sell anything and everything on the internet. But it is necessary for the internet marketing firms and people involved in internet marketing to follow some do’s and don’ts.
What you should do:
1) Identify your strength:
You must be a big company manufacturing and selling a lot of stuff, but it would be a great idea to do a SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threats) analysis of these products before you actually start selling. It is always advisable to start selling the product that you have mastered in selling at the first go.
2) Make a Plan and Stay Focused:
Plan on Visiting Forums on Monday, Re-Word your ads on Tuesday, write Articles on Wednesday, etc. This will make it much easier for you to stay focused.
3) Send Comments:
Ask the end customer to send you suggestions and comments. This would help you devise ways to counter and service failures.
4) Write Blogs:
Start writing and placing advertisement on internet blogs. This would help you cut on advertisement cost and draw a much bigger crowd then you can imagine.
5) Exchange links / do cross advertisements:
If you are into crafts, go to your search box and type in Crafts. Then go to the companies that are involved with crafts and exchange links with them. That way when someone visits their site, there’s a good chance they will visit your site next.
What you should not do:
1) Don’t Spam:
This is the number one “No No” of online marketing. I know it’s tempting when you see a message with email add galore and you just want to copy and paste all those addy’s. But it is not something you want to do. Trust me and put the thought out of your head.
2) Don’t Copy the Ad:
Try to be innovative with the ads. Make sure that you do not copy and past other’s advertisement.
3) Don’t Use the Free Classified Ads Sites:
Sure they sound good, “Get Your Ad Noticed by Thousands”. But do they really work. No, they don’t. People go there to place ads; they aren’t interested in what you are selling. The most you will get from these places are a lot of e-mails from people saying, “I saw your ad and thought maybe you would be interested in my offer”.
4) Don’t Sell to the Wrong Crowd:
Think about it! If you’re selling jewelry; don’t waste your time advertising in a gardening newsletter. Go to jewelry, women, and other related sites. Sign up for their newsletters and go from there.
Last but not the least DON’T LOOSE HEART!
