The development of conventional DVD recorders by Japan’s pioneer will cease, as it is open for a tie-up with Matsushita electric industrial in next-generation models in a bid turn the loss-making business around.
Pioneer will successfully accomplish the work left on models still underdevelopment. Once finished with the completion task, pioneer will stop all development of current-generation DVD recorders and focus on buying DVD recorder from other makers for sale under its own brand.
Pioneer would also go ahead with its development of next-generation DVD recorders with the help of Blu-ray technology and would also propose collaboration with Matsushita that would include pioneer procuring chips & software from its larger rival. Matsushita has already offered a green signal to the tie-up.
